Trauma-informed therapy and recovery

My approach

I offer a space where your experiences - past and present - are met with empathy, patience, and respect.

I believe trauma is not just something that happened, but something that shaped how you learned to survive. This work is not about fixing you or erasing your past; it’s about gently creating the conditions where you can feel safer, more resourced, and more connected, at a pace that feels manageable.

You are welcome to show up however you are - quiet, overwhelmed, numb, scattered, angry, grieving, or unsure. You do not need to explain everything, have a clear narrative, or relive details you are not ready to share. We will go carefully, following what feels supportive.

I work integratively, drawing from person-centred therapy, parts work (informed by Internal Family Systems), compassion-focused therapy, somatic therapy, and trauma-informed practice. My approach follows a phased understanding of trauma recovery: beginning with stabilisation and safety, moving toward gently exploring what’s ready to be seen, and slowly building toward integration and reconnection. We’ll pay attention not just to your thoughts, but to how survival patterns, emotions, and sensations live in your body and relationships.

I welcome the parts of you shaped by trauma, attachment, culture, race, gender, class, neurodivergence, and body, without asking you to explain or justify them. I won’t pathologise the ways you cope - whether that’s shutting down, using humour, or finding your own way through what feels unholdable. I will meet you where you are, whether that means exploring change or simply helping you stay safer.

This work is about cultivating a felt sense of resilience and wholeness, and opening toward what might be possible.

PTSD, Complex Trauma & Trauma-Informed Therapy FAQs

  • No. You set the pace here. Therapy can focus on the impacts in your life in the here and now - we do not need to go through every detail or memory. You are always in charge of what you share and when.

  • That’s okay. Therapy is not about pushing or rushing change. We can work on stabilisation, safety, and coping, helping you stay safer or more resourced, even if you are not ready (or able) to make external changes yet.

  • I work with adults of all genders, backgrounds, and identities, including men, LGBTQ+ clients, neurodivergent people, survivors of cultural, racial, intergenerational, or family trauma, and those navigating complex trauma or C-PTSD. Trauma touches people across all walks of life.

  • I offer an integrative approach that includes trauma-informed therapy, parts work, somatic therapy, and compassion-focused therapy. While I don’t provide cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) or EMDR, I work relationally to support you with emotional regulation, trauma symptoms, complex PTSD (C-PTSD), and PTSD, whether you join me for online trauma therapy across the UK or face-to-face trauma therapy in Manchester.
